Two days after an 11-year-old class VI student, Roshan Lama, was accidently hit by a javelin in the school playground in C R Park, police have arrested another physical training teacher and apprehended the accused juvenile who allegedly threw the javelin that hit the victim.
According to the doctors at the AIIMS Trauma Centre, there is hope that Roshan would be able to live a normal life again. He might slip into comma if his condition does not improve soon.
Police said that they have detained the class 12th student. The juvenile had escaped to Dehradun fearing action against him. A local police team was sent to Uttarakhand to bring him back.
He was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board and sent to the child Observation Home today.
Another physical training teacher of the school, identified as Jitesh Chawla, was arrested on Thursday and was sent to judicial custody. Both of them have been booked for causing hurt due to negligence.
The incident took place on Tuesday afternoon, while senior students were practicing javelin throw during the recess time. On the same day, police arrested the physical training teacher, Sushil Kumar Sharma.
“We have registered a case against the teachers as it was due to their negligence that the incident took place. They should have been at the playground when students were practicing,” said a senior police officer.
On being asked if any action is planned against the school principal, the officer said that no charges have been framed against the principal as it was solely the instructor&’s negligence.
Meanwhile, doctors said that Roshan&’s condition has not improved since the day he was admitted. Doctors have told us that more damage was caused to his health because the students in playground forcibly removed the spear out of his skull. They should, instead, have brought him straight to the hospital.
Police said that further investigations are underway.
