New Delhi, 7 February
In a move against Jan Lokpal Bill which is to introduce in the upcoming session of Delhi Assembly, the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) president Mr Arvinder Singh Lovely today met Lt. Governor (LG) Najeeb Jung and explained the party&’s stand on the same.
Mr Lovely submitted a memorandum to the LG and alleged that Chief Minister Mr Arvind Kejriwal, in the name of the Jan Lokpal Bill, was trying to gain political mileage by misguiding the people of Delhi.
"The bill is trying to be introduced in an unconstitutional manner to misguide and confuse the people and thus the Congress will stop it from being introduced in the Delhi Assembly," said Mr Singh.
Mr Singh also said that no one should be given the power to break the rule of law in the country. The memorandum also pointed out not only that it was against the rules, but was also against the traditions of the Delhi Assembly.
"The memorandum also pointed out that under rule 120 of the Delhi Government, the House could not be summoned without informing the Lt. Governor. Besides this, rule 44 and its sub-rule 34, were being completely violated, and the memorandum has requested the LG that the Kejriwal Government should be directed not to introduce any unconstitutional bill," stated Mr Singh.
