Every household in Delhi will, by December 2017, get piped, potable water that will be “better than RO water,” Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday said on the first anniversary of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Delhi.

Speaking at the NDMC convention centre here, where he presented a report card of his government as a part of a public interaction, Kejriwal said Delhi will become the first city in the country to have filtered, purified tap water running in every household, including illegal colonies.

“This mineral water, bottled water has become a scam. Everybody is forced to buy RO water purifiers. We are in the process of making piped water in Delhi clean and filtered. By Dec 2017, all households will get piped water that will be filtered and better than RO water,” Kejriwal said.

He also waived off late payment charge on water bills for those having a functional meter of the Delhi Jal Board.

“We have been able to solve Delhi&’s water and power bill problems. We are answerable to the common man and today I am here to give you the report of the work we have done on the last one year,” he said.

Meanwhile, the state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) held an agitation here against the AAP government, alleging “total failure”,outside the venue where the event was being held.

Led by Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay, the BJP workers, holding placards that read “Har Roz Naya Bawal, Ek saal Kejriwal” (Every day a new controversy, one year of Kejriwal” along with BJP flags, raised slogans against Kejriwal.

"This rally is to expose the Kejriwal government&’s total failure in one year. This is a black day,” Delhi BJP leader Praveen Shankar Kapoor said.
