Hundreds of auto and taxi operators on Monday protested against Delhi government at Delhi Secretariat demanding to stop the introduction of City Taxi scheme where the transport ministry is planning to procure small cars to discourage private vehicles.
According to Sanjay Chawla, member of Bharatiya Majdoor Sangh, the government is putting our livelihood at risk by getting these vehicles. "Also, despite High Court’s order, Ola and Uber cabs continue to ply which should also be stopped," said Chawla.
Though a few days ago also, the union held a strike to protest against these vehicles after which the transport minister Gopal Rai had promised them that their livelihood won’t be affected even after the introduction of small cars. But the union is not convinced yet.
"The minister is not going to do anything in real. It was just a hollow promise he had made," said Chawla.
