New Delhi, 4 October
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal today expressed confidence about the his party fortune in the Delhi assembly election just after the Election Commission announced the date of elections in five states.
Mr Kejriwal said: "We are confident of winning 47 seats in Delhi. Both the BJP and the Congress claim that the AAP is batting for their opponent. BJP is crying like a baby. They are losing for 15 years in Delhi then who was cutting their votes? Now, they are giving baseless argument." Kejriwal said.
Kejriwal while targeting both the BJP and Congress party added: "If AAP comes to power it will bring the corrupt ministers to justice. Both BJP and Congress have similar slogans and posters against me. They are not targeting each other, but only AAP."
"The Congress and the BJP are corrupt to the core, and it’s because of their corruption, people have become victims of rising prices. People of Delhi have already decided to throw away both these parties. AAP is confidence to form the government in Delhi. We are all set for the elections," he added.
Aam Aadmi Party, which was formally launched by Kejriwal along with his associate on November 26 last year, would be contesting its first elections here.
Earlier in the day, Chief Election Commissioner V S Sampath announced the polling dates for five states, including Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Mizoram.
Taking note of the Supreme Court’s recent ruling, giving voters the right to reject candidates in the electoral fray, Mr Sampath said the Election Commission is taking adequate measures to educate both voters and officials deployed for election duty for the same.
