A 10-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped and raped by an unidentified man in Govindpuri area of south-east Delhi last night. The victim is admitted in a government hospital and her condition is stated to be stable.
The incident took place yesterday, when the cops were busy in managing polling booths. As senior police officers remained tight lipped, a source posted with Delhi Police said the accused is still absconding and raids are on to nab him.
Police said last evening, when the victim went to the market to buy some household items, the accused approached her alleging why she had thrashed his nephew last day.
"As the victim was unaware of such incident, the accused started shouting on her, saying he would complain to her father in this regard and would get her thrashed in return," said the police.
When the girl started crying, the accused consoled her. He said there is nothing to worry and directed her to come along with him so that he could pacify her father too.
The accused took her to the nearby Tughlakabad forest where he allegedly raped her and fled from the spot leaving her crying in an immense pain and physical trauma.
Later, the girl somehow managed to reach her house by 11 pm after which she was rushed to the government hospital where her condition is stated to be stable. Doctors confirmed rape on her.
Police said they have registered a case of rape against the absconding accused.
