CPI to contest five seats in UP, names candidates
The CPI has declared candidates for five Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh.
Two politicians belonging to the opposition Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party were shot dead in separate incidents in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday, police said.
Samajwadi Party corporator Ravindra Gujjar, 38, was shot dead by four unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants in Bhawaniram area of Jalaun while he was taking a late evening walk. He was rushed to a nearby medical facility where he was pronounced dead.
Senior police officials rushed to the crime spot.

BSP leader Kailash Chandra, 40, was shot dead at his house in Tigariya Bhood area in Amroha. Police said a pistol owned by him was found near the body.
