Scholarship to SC, ST students: Kejriwal directs officers to set up call centres

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday reviewed the disbursement of SC and ST scholarship to students and directed officers to set up a call centre to remove the bottlenecks in its implementation.
According to a government statement, the chief minister directed the chief secretary and the departmental secretary to take all measures to ensure that the scholarships are disbursed smoothly and on time.
Kejriwal said that all calls to the helpline should be recorded and transcribed and all grievances should be resolved within 48 to 72 hours of the complaint lodged.
“The chief minister expressed unhappiness over the delay in disbursal of SC/ST scholarships last year and said that it should not be repeated,” the statement reads.
The CM took keen interest in the Delhi Swarojgar Yojana and discussed this scheme at length with the concerned Minister and officials. The Yojana provides loan to applicants to start business so that they can stand on their own.
He said that most of the schemes for the welfare of the SC/ST/OBC/minorities were dead for years and now must be revived at the earliest and hurdles cleared so that more and more people can take benefit of them.
Discussion on a new scheme for assistance to the SC students for coaching several examinations like UPSC, SSC, engineering, medical was also discussed. The Chief Minister directed the officials to come with a proposal of the said scheme at the earliest, the statement reads.
