Son of three-time Congress legislator Kush Parmar from Nahan and Ponta Sahib in Sirmaur district, he was the claimant for the Congress party ticket from Nahan segment.
Kush Parman was known to have been annoyed for having not been given ticket by the Congress party to contest Assembly elections.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator Rajeev Bindal welcomed him for joining the party.
