Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, who turned 62 on Wednesday, has said that his resolution for the coming year was to extend the running of the state legislative assembly for more than 40-45 days per year.

Speaking to reporters at the state legislative assembly complex here, during the ongoing winter session of the assembly, Parrikar also said that cramped sessions result in a litany of questions and no time to sufficiently address them.

“My resolution is that the House should run for a longer period. From the next Budget session, the House should run for a minimum of 40-45 days for a year. So next year, I will cross 40 days, because if a House functions for a long time, then those who asks several questions can then spread out and take more questions,” Parrikar said.

“If the House does not run for a long time, there are no pointed questions. If there are no pointed questions, there are no solutions. Vague questions, overall questions do not result in solutions,” the Chief Minister observed.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has wished the former Defence Minister on his birthday via Twitter.

“On his birthday, my greetings to Goa CM @manoharparrikar Ji. May he lead a long life filled with good health,” Modi said.
