With no major breakthrough in the ‘Gudia’ gangrape and murder, Kotkhai based NGO has announced a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh to anyone providing vital clue.

Disgruntled and alleging that the ‘real culprits’ were still at large even after lapse of two months and 16 days on, the NGO, Manav Seva Sansthan (MSS) and Trust Kotkhai has taken the initiative to announce a cash reward, hoping that some vital information could help in the case.

The organisation has since Thursday taken to social media to publicise their offer for anyone who could play a pro-active role in disclosing any information that might help in the case.

MSS president Nirmila Dharmaik said, “Although, we have faith in the country’s top investigating agency, however, with the case having not been solved so far has our patience giving way.”

So far the organisation has taken to social media, besides our activist spreading the message of reward money word to mouth, she added.

“Any informer can get in touch with our organisation either personally or phone call or even massage on the helpline that is being circulated by us,” she said, adding that the name of the informer will be kept secret.

Any information that will be received will be shared directly with the CBI, she maintained.’

MSS had initially played a significant role in Kotkhai area mobilising public after the police did not meet the parents of ‘Gudia’ even after the lapse of 5 days and showed no seriousness in pursuing the case, she claimed.

The 16-year-old girl, in Kotkhai are had gone missing after school hours on July 4 and two days later her body was found in the forest area.

It was suspected that she was gang raped and murdered. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the state police was constituted which arrested 6 accused. One of the accused died in police custody.

Buckled under pressure with public unrest that rocked the capital city and parts of Shimla district in the areas close to the crime scene, the state government was forced to seek Himachal Pradesh High Court (HC) intervention to hand over the case to the Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI).

The CBI was handed over the case on July 19 and began its probe. So far the investigating agency has arrested 8 cops in connection with the custodial death of an accused in the ‘Gudia’ gangrape and murder case.

With the HC closely monitoring the case the CBI has presented its status report four times so far that include 2 August, 17 August, 6 September and 21 September.
