Even as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is gearing up for upcoming assembly polls in the state and is confident of securing clear majority, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Bilaspur in Himachal Pradesh would further boost its electoral prospects.

PM Modi during his visit to Bilaspur would lay the foundation of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), which would prove to be a landmark, in providing quality health services. As of now, the people of the state had to travel to Chandigarh to get specialised treatment.

Besides this, Modi would also lay the foundation stone of Indian Institute of Information Technology at Una and Steel Plant in Kandrori in Kangra district.

BJP leaders feel that these major projects would not only facilitate the people of the state in terms of better facilities and quality care but it would also generate employment opportunities for locals.

“The visit would only boost the chances of the party in the ensuing assembly polls in the state as was the case with Shimla Municipal Corporation polls,” former chief minister and leader of opposition, Prem Kumar Dhumal told The Statesman.

Dhumal said Modi’s visit to Shimla had resulted in the party securing majority in SMC polls after 31 years. “We are confident that Modi’s visit would give shot in arm to our poll preparations and we may win over 60 plus seats in the upcoming assembly polls, more than our target of 50 plus seats,” he said.

Union minister for Health and Family Welfare, JP Nadda is personally overseeing the arrangements for PM’s rally as it is under his constituency.

Apart from Nadda, state BJP incharge Mangal Pandey, organisational incharge Pawan Rana and other leaders are also supervising the arrangements to make the event a grand success.

The party is expecting participation of over 1 lakh people in the rally. Meanwhile, security arrangements are being put in place and the Special Protection Group (SPG) arrived here a day ago to oversee flawless security in the city and around the venue.

This is Modi’s first rally in Bilaspur after becoming the Prime Minister and third in HP. He had earlier addressed rallies in Mandi and Shimla.
