KCR to hold bus yatra for mass contact
Following the footsteps of YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, BRS supremo K Chandrasekhar Rao has decided to go on a bus yatra in Telangana instead of addressing rallies in the run up to the election.
The Telangana state government’s ‘free saree’ drive ended on a not-so-cordial note on Monday as women were seen pulling each other’s hair to grab the gift. Some were seen loudly complaining about the poor quality of the gift.
The government had announced to distribute sarees among downtrodden women as gift on Bathukamma festival, a nine-day event coinciding with Dussehra, in which women dance around flower arrangements.
As leaders of the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) started distributing the sarees, trouble erupted in some towns. At an event in Saidabad area of Hyderabad, women waiting in a long queue were seen pushing each other and pulling at each other’s hair.

On social media, videos were shared in which women can be seen burning the sarees, alleging poor quality. Videos were circulated of women dancing around a bonfire to songs mocking Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao or KCR.

The government reportedly accused the opposition Congress of a role in the controversy.
