To enhance skills of students, Haryana launches Quiz Bank for schools

With an aim to increase the logical reasoning of the students of Class III to X, Haryana government on Thursday launched Quiz Bank of over 10,000 questions based on general awareness, history and culture.

The Additional Chief Secretary, School Education Department, PK Das said that Haryana has become the first state in the country to take this initiative towards improving the skills of students.

Addressing the mediapersons, Das said that a video conferencing with all the District Education Officers (DEOs), District Elementary Education Officers (DEEOs) and Block Education Officers (BEOs) was held giving them necessary directions in this regard.

He said that this Question Bank is based on the syllabus of different classes. Apart from making available the Quiz Bank in the schools through the DVD, it would also be available on the department website.

Assistance of various professional agencies has been taken in preparing this Quiz Bank. Apart from this, quality of the Quiz Bank has also been got checked through State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) and National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT). Soon the age appropriate questions would also be incorporated in this quiz bank, he added.

The official further stated that Haryana is also the first state in the country where skill pass book of each student has been prepared. He said that Parents Teacher Association would be informed about the syllabus and skill being imparted to the students in the school so that the parents could evaluate their level of performance at home.

Apart from this, posters would be prepared for each class on the basis of required skills and learning indicators would be installed outside each class highlighting the syllabus for both students and teachers, he added.

Das also added that efforts are being made to develop a result oriented culture in the schools of the state and on the same basis, the school diary and curriculum has been prepared.
