Congress party on Monday criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for issuing false and misleading statements against its leaders through parivartan rath yatra and said such diversionary tactics would not yield any positive results in upcoming assembly polls.

The state Congress vice president GR Musafir, general secretary Ramlal Thakur and chief spokesperson Kuldeep Pathania said the BJP is trying to gain its lost ground through the rallies ahead of assembly polls. “BJP has fielded Central ministers and Chief Ministers of other states to show its might, however, the tactics would fail owing inner fighting between the party and unprecedented development carried out by Congress government in the state,” they said.

The state Congress leaders said the parivartan rallies were just a beginning of party leaders false campaigns against the government and such attacks would continue in future as they are vary of their defeat in the polls.

“During 2012 assembly polls too, BJP had launched a malicious and false campaign against the party but had failed miserably. The people of Himachal Pradesh are well aware of the facts and they would give befitting reply to such mischievous allegations,” they said.

They said the party leaders attack CM Virbhadra Singh just ahead of polls as they knew that they won’t be able to win polls against such charismatic and mass leader.

They credited the unprecedented development of the state to the leadership provided by successive Congress governments at the Centre and the state.

“Congress government has launched various schemes for all round development of the state and people of the state knew that all the allegations leveled by BJP leaders are false and baseless,” they said.

They praised CM for providing able leadership in the state and said the people would vote and elect him for seventh time as CM in the assembly polls scheduled to be held by the end of the year.
