The inaugural ceremony of the 23rd edition of the Kolkata International Film Festival beginning on 10 November, will see Kamal as one of the guests.
Kamal, who turned 63 on Tuesday, will not celebrate his birthday as people in Chennai are distressed by heavy rains. He will instead visit a medical camp and a rain-affected area.
Kamal, who has set his eyes on a political career, has said the first step towards it will be the launch of a mobile software app on Tuesday as it will enable him to be in touch with the fans and also enable book-keeping.
Kamal has been active of late with comments on the political situation, both at the national and state level, often being critical of the ruling parties.
