The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) announced on Friday that it will overhaul its organisational structure by appointing a 'mandal adhyaksh' for each polling station in Delhi.

Delhi Labour Minister Gopal Rai made the announcement after a three-week feedback exercise undertaken by him with various stakeholders of the AAP in Delhi.

The exercise involved newly-elected councillors, candidates who contested the municipal elections, legislators and office-bearers of the party which rules in Delhi.

Talking to reporters here, Rai said the 'Mera Booth Sabse Majboot' (My booth the strongest) campaign will be launched on Sunday, ahead of which all 'mandal adhyaksh' posts will be filled up.

"The party has also decided that every person associated with the party — be it the Chief Minister, ministers, assembly members, municipal councillors or office-bearers — will have to take charge of organisational building in their own polling booths," Rai said.

"This is based on the feedback that despite performing well in the government, the party organisation was unable to communicate this message in every street and locality of the city."

The Minister added that efforts would be made to encourage a dialogue within and outside the party organisation through this structure, combined with building an ongoing communication channel with the Delhi government.

Rai was appointed the Delhi convener of the AAP replacing Dilip Pandey after it badly lost the April 23 civic polls.
