Holding Tuesday’s gains Indian equity markets started the Wednesday’s trading session on a flat note.

At 9.45 am the Sensex at the BSE was trading 13 points down at 28038 while the Nifty at the NSE was trading two points up at 8680.

Broader markets outperformed the front liners BSE Midcap index gained 0.3 per cent while Smallcap index jumped by 0.6 per cent.

Among the BSE sectoral indices Oil amp; Gas index surged the most up 1.2 per cent while FMCG index became the lead loser down 0.3 per cent.

On Tuesday thenbsp;Sensexnbsp;had closed 521 points higher at 28051 and the Nifty had closed 158 points up at 8678.

Top gainers in thenbsp;Sensex-30 pack: Gail up 2.3 per cent Wipro up 1.8 per cent Sun Pharma up 1.6 per cent Lupin up 1.4 per cent and ONGC up 1.2 per cent.

Top losers in thenbsp;Sensex-30 pack: ICICI Bank down 1.2 per cent ITC down 0.3 per cent TCS down 1.1 per cent Adani Ports down 1 per cent and HUL down 0.8 per cent.

Meanwhile the Rupee was trading four paise higher at 66.69 against the US Dollar.
