Indian equity markets extended its gains for fourth straight session and started the Monday trading session marginal higher amid mixed global cues.

At 9:35 am, the Sensex at the Bombay Stocks Exchange (BSE) was trading 59 points higher at 23768 while the Nifty at the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was trading 18 points up at 7,229.

Amond BSE sectoal indices, Telecom, Metal and Realty indices were trading higher around 0.5 per cent each while FMCG index shed by 0.8 per cent.

The broader markets outperformed the key benchmark indices. BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices jumped around 0.5 per cent each.

In the Sensex-30 pack, Bharti Airtel jumped 2.2 per cent to register the biggest gain while ITC posted the biggest decline with a tumble of 3.4 per cent.

The Rupee was trading 12 paise down at 68.58 against the US Dollar.
