Member of NITI Aayog Ramesh Chand on Friday asked Himachal Pradesh government to prepare a roadmap to meet the aim of doubling farmers’ income in next five years.

Chand, who was here in an interaction session with the ministers and senior officers of the state, said minor slowdown has been noticed in agriculture, manufacturing, market reforms and irrigation sources in the state.

Health and Family Minister, Kaul Singh Thakur said in post NITI Aayog era, the state got a major setback due to drastic reduction in funds in Centrally Sponsored Schemes and scrapping of industrial package.

He also brought to his notice that schemes under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojna, which had been submitted to Government of India (GoI) for approval, have received no response.

Thakur urged the NITI Aayog to provide bonus for HP in lieu of its commendable role in forest conservation and putting a complete ban on felling of green trees.

Earlier, Chief Secretary, VC Pharka said that the state government was in a position to achieve most of the targets by the year 2022, yet drastic decline in funding by GoI would definitely come into the way of doubling the farmer’s income in next five years. He said reimbursement claims of Rs 105 Crore under Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme and Rs.125 Crore under Flood Management Programme were lying pending with GoI.

Pharka said the state had received Rs.148 Crore less from the level it received in 2013-14 under National Rural Drinking Water Programme.
