Record wheat output in 2012-13

SAIL to increase iron ore production
KOLKATA, 22 JUNE: With the Steel Authority of India (SAIL) aiming to produce 24 million tons of hot metal by 2015-16, the Raw Materials Division (RMD) of the steel major is gearing up to increase iron ore production from its seven mines located in Jharkhand and Odisha. SAIL, which has chalked out a plan to produce 24 million tons (MT) of hot metal by 2015-16, would require around 39 MT of iron ore annually, of which around 30 MT will be met from the iron ore mines operating under RMD, company sources said here. pti
Steel output growth rate
NEW DELHI, 22 JUNE: Bucking the trend, India’s steel production growth rate in May at just 1.5 per cent slipped below the global average of 2.6 per cent. India’s steel output stood at 6.73 million tons during the month against 6.63 million tons a year earlier, industry body World Steel Association said today. In contrast, global production increased to 136 million tons in May 2013 compared to 132.8 million tons produced in the same month last year. pti
J&K Bank announces dividend
SRINAGAR, 22 JUNE: Jammu & Kashmir Bank today announced a dividend of Rs 50 per share or 500 per cent to its shareholders. The dividend of 500 per cent on a share of face value Rs 10 was approved at the annual general meeting of shareholders which was held here, a spokesman of the bank said. Shares of J&K Bank had closed at Rs 1,178.60 on the Bombay Stock Exchange yesterday. The bank’s Chairman and CEO Mushtaq Ahmad expressed satisfaction on achieving targets for 2012-13 fiscal. “We have not only achieved, but even surpassed our Rs 1,00,000 crore business target and Rs 1,000 crore profit in the Platinum Jubilee year,” he said. pti
Sebi extends new fund offer period
MUMBAI, 22 JUNE: Market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India has notified regulations that allowed mutual funds to accept investor money in new plans under the Rajiv Gandhi Equity Savings Scheme for 30 days, as against a 15-day subscription period allowed for other schemes. The relaxation has been made only for mutual fund schemes under RGESS, a government initiative aimed at attracting small investors into the capital market. In a circular dated 19 June, Sebi said the subscription period or the window for which a new fund offer of a mutual fund scheme remains open has been extended to 30 days. pti
