Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday demanded that the state be paid royalty for on-shore and off-shore gas and oil exploration.
He was addressing a joint press conference with Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmandra Pradhan.
The Chief Minister said he had requested the Centre for paying Andhra Pradesh this royalty because it needed funds direly.
The 19th finance committee on oil energy had worked out a formula for the payment of cess and royalty to the states, he pointed out.
Pradhan, however, said the Centre would consider the request, but he could not give any assurance.
