CBSE Class 12 results: Girls score over boys, govt schools perform better

There were no surprises when it comes to comparative performance of girls and boys in the CBSE Class-12 results declared on Sunday. Taking ahead the trend, girls outperformed boys in securing top positions as well in the pass percentage. The pass percentage of girls in the exam is 87.5 per cent, which is 9.5 per cent higher than those of boys, which is 78 per cent.

Further, this year, the pass percentage in the CBSE Class 12 exam has fallen to 82 per cent from 83.05 per cent in the previous year, despite there being an increase in number of students by 2.8 per cent. While the pass percentage in government schools is 82.29 per cent, that for private schools is 79.27.

Interestingly, the highest pass percentage of 95.73 percent has been recorded by Jawahar Navodya Vidyalayas, which are alternate schools for gifted and talented education in India.

Among differently-abled students, the pass percentage is 86.69 per cent.

A total of 10,67,900 students had taken the CBSE Class 12 exam, of which 6,21,259 were boys and 4,46,641 girls.
