West Bengal government is keen on increasing the number of cold storages in the state and is having talks with the chambers of commerce, agriculture marketing minister Arup Roy told the assembly on Monday.

In a reply during the question hour, Roy said his department was having talks with the chambers of commerce for setting up more cold storages on PPP mode for which the government would provide with all possible support.

He said that in Krishak Bazaars, which would be set up in each blocks of the state, there would be multi-purpose cold storages where farmers would be able to keep their unsold produce for selling the next day.

Roy said that the government would give grants to farmers for storage of onions.
