The Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and Facebook have launched an Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD)-based pan-India facility called Know Your Neta,  using which, people can now get all the information on mobile phones about candidates contesting any Assembly or Lok Sabha election in the country.    
Till this evening, the facility was available only on Airtel, Idea, Aircel, Tata Docomo and Uninor networks; there are plans to extend the facility to all other mobile networks soon.   
The initiative will take ADR&’s strong experience in electoral research to millions of people in India who use Facebook on mobile phones. To avail the facility which is free, all one will have to do is dial *325*35# from their phone to directly access Facebook’s election menu or dial *325# to first access Facebook and then select the election menu. Ms Ankhi Das, Facebook India’s head and director of public policy said, “Our goal is to enable citizens get involved in issues of governance.”
