Haripal, 8 July
There was panic among the locals as well as TMC members in Hooghly district on Monday after Maoists allegedly stuck posters on walls, threatening the lives of seven Trinamul Congress members.
The incident took place in Kashempur village of Bandhipur area of Haripal in the morning.
The posters, written in red, carried messages that threatened the lives of seven TMC Hooghly district members within 15 July.
The names mentioned on the posters include those of Mr Anil Aadhak, Seikh Nasimuddin and Mr Manik Manna, all of whom are from Haripal.
Mr Becharam Manna, MLA, Haripal, and also a state minister, blamed the CPI-M for putting up the posters at the dead of the night in the name of Maoists.
But Mr Dulal Bhowmick, the Haripal CPM zonal secretary, rubbished the allegations and said it is ridiculous on the part of a state minister to make such irresponsible and unconstitutional remarks.
The police, meanwhile, have launched an inquiry into the incident.
