Two youths were injured today when a low-intensity bomb went off in an under construction building at Belilous road in Howrah.
Locals panicked when they heard the noise of an explosion from a three-storey under construction building at 380 Belilious road around 8 am.
“After hearing the sound we ran for our safety and shopkeepers downed their shutters,” said Md Akram, a local.
The two labourers working in the building sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the hospital.
They have been identified as Md Masiruddin and Md Mintu, both residents of Golabari area.
Police was yet to confirm till late evening as to why the explosive were kept there and whether the bomb, which went off inadvertently, was part of a bigger conspiracy.
 “We are probing the local contractor engaged in the construction and more details would be only known after the probe,” said Mr Nishad Pervez DC(Headquarters) refusing to speak much about it.
