Chief minister Mamata Banerjee during her visit to North Dinajpur district on 29 December is expected to inaugurate the newly constructed Rabindra Bhawan in Raiganj, a bus terminus at Hemtabad and the Sabuj Sathi programme, under which over 40,000 bicycles will be distributed among school students.

Secretary of the state TMC committee, Ashin Ghosh said, “According to the information we received, the chief minister will inaugurate Rabindra Bhawan in Raiganj and the newly constructed bus terminus in Hemtabad. She will also inaugurate the Sabuj Sathi programme, and lay the foundation stones for some other development projects in the district.”

According to sources, Banerjee may also lay the foundation stone for the Raiganj-Barsoi road. Meanwhile, police have made tight security arrangements for the chief minister&’s visit. Inspector general of police, north Bengal, Natrajan Rameshbabu, who is in Raiganj since Saturday is looking after security arrangements. According to sources, Miss Banerjee will reach Kishanganj station in Bihar on 29 Dcember, from where she will travel by car to the Islampur Circuit House to hold an administrative meeting with district officials and the police. She will then travel by helicopter to Tapan in South Dinajpur district. Superintendent of police, North Dinajpur district, Sayed Waquar Raza said, “The chief minister will reach Dharampur at 11 a.m. on 29 December. We have arranged adequate security measures in the Goalpokhar police station area. BSF officials have been informed to stay alert near the IndoBangladesh border during the chief minister&’s stay in Goalpokhar.”
