The people of Jadavpur Mukundapur area, who had to go through severe water crisis especially during summer, will not get some relief as the Kolkata Municipal Corporation has inaugurated new water tanks in the area.
Around 70,000 people residing in the area as well as adjoining wards will benefit as the reservoir comes with a capacity of around 16 mgd of water. It will cater to ward 109 and partly to wards 106,104 and 103.
Kolkata mayor was present along with state ministers Firhad Hakim and Manish Gupta during the inauguration programme.
The mayor said, “We have carried out our promise and the people of this area will not have to suffer from water crisis any more.”
The reservoir comes with a capacity of around 16 mgd of water.
