The Hooghly Zilla Parishad in a meeting with the cold storage owners asked them to clear off all long standing dues to the government and apply for updated permission certificates to run the cold storage legally.
On 3 January, the Hooghly Zella parishad summoned 19 cold storage owners in the view of their long standing government dues in lakhs.
Only six of them who had to turned up for the meeting were given an ultimatum till March of this year to clear of all the pending government dues and procure legal permissions to run the cold storages.
The absentees will be notified of legal action against them if they again failed to response to the second summon.
Mr Manas Mazumdar, of Agricultural and Irrigation department of the Zilla Parishad said that the cold storage owners have been asked to update all the legal official documents and clear all the long standing government dues.
The legal updated documents can only come in rescue to the owners and farmers who are then legible to receive government help in case of any accident.
