Kolkata, 25 October: A minor fire broke out at the new state secretariat Nabanna today.
The fire broke out on the first floor in the chamber of Kolkata Police Commissioner (CP) Surajit Kar Purkayastha. However, the CP was not in his rooms when the incident took place around 4.25 p.m.
According to police, a short-circuit caused the fire which was doused within minutes. The damage was limited to only a portion of the internal electrical wiring. “A constable was conducting a routine check to see if all apparatus and facilities in the CP&’s chamber were functioning properly. When he switched on the tube light thick smoke started billowing out. The constable turned off the main switch,” said a senior police officer.     SNS
