Legendary singer Subir Sen known for his renditions in many Hindi and Bengali films breathed his last on Tuesday in a private city hospital.
He was 81-years-old and was battling lung cancer. He is survived by his wife and a daughter. He has given a number of hit songs both in Hindi and Bengali films.
Some of his popular scores like ‘Dheere chalao zara’ in Aas Ka Panchhi and ‘Main rangeela pyar ka raahi' in Chhoti Bahan, ‘Monalisa tumi ki bolona’ and many more.
West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee condoled his death through a tweet. “Saddened at the passing away of legendary singer Subir Sen. He is our Banga Bibhushan.
He will always be in our hearts,” she tweeted. He was not keeping well for a long time and was admitted to a private hospital. He passed away at 8.05 am in the hospital. Mayor Sovan Chatterjee, Debashish Kumar, MMIC, Parks and Squares and Aroop Biswas, state youth minister went to pay their homage.His body was taken to his house at Panditiya Place and from there to Banichakra and finally to the Keoratalla Crematorium.
