KOLKATA, 16 JUNE: A mob ransacked a private diagnostic centre in Howrah and beat up one of its employee after a woman who had visited the clinic for ultrasonography alleged that the employee had shot a video of her on a mobile phone fitted inside a room where she was changing her clothes. 
The woman visited Apollo Clinic in the Khajir Bazar area of Shibpur this morning along with her husband to undertake the test. The accused who has been identified as Mr Gouranga Das, an employee of the clinic asked the woman to go to a room for changing clothes. After entering the room the woman asked the accused to put out the lights of the room. Mr Das refused to switch off the lights. She was thus forced to change her dresses with the lights on. While changing her clothes she saw a mobile phone fitted inside the room which was allegedly being used for shooting a video. The woman then left the room and told the matter to her husband who was waiting outside the room. As the news spread, some of the local people stormed into the clinic, beat up the accused. A portion of the clinic was also ransacked. Police later reached the spot and brought the situation under control.
Police are investigating whether the mobile phone, which belongs to the accused, was previously used for shooting videos of the women while changing their dresses. Police have arrested Mr Das.
One Suraj Kumar Das, a local resident was also arrested on the charges of ransacking the private clinic. "We are probing the accused and an investigation has been initiated," a senior police officer of the district said.
