Mr Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, minister of state for Railways, inaugurated a Computerized Passenger Reservation Centre at Cossimbazar station and announced luggage van (SLR) services for the convenience of vegetable vendors in Lalgola-Ranaghat Passenger at a function in Cossimbazar station this afternoon.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Chowdhury said that the commissioning of the new Railway Reservation Centre at Cossimbazar will facilitate locals to avail booking facilities at their doorsteps.
He said that SLR service for vegetable vendors in Lalgola-Ranaghat Passenger (53152 Dn), to be effected from 16 February, 2014, with stoppage at  Balarampur Halt, will boost up the agrarian economy of the area. It will enable the vendors to transport vegetables.
He also informed that this year, Cossimbazar station has been selected for Heritage Mela, to be organized shortly, to project the history, development and modernization works of Eastern Railway.
Mr Shiladitya Halder, Hon’ble Sabhadhipati, zilla parishad, Murshidabad and Shri Nilratan Adhya, Hon’ble Chairman, Berhampore Municipality were also present. 
Mr  A.K. Gupta, Addl. Divisional Railway Manager (T) of Eastern Railway‘s Sealdah division gave the welcome address.
