KOLKATA, 13 JULY: More people, including young entrepreneurs and businessmen in the city are learning the Chinese language to widen their professional opportunities in China. 
At present, there are approximately 80 students, aged between 5 and 60 years studying Chinese Language & Culture at The School. The faculty consists of well-qualified teachers from China. More than 700 Students have studied the  language with The School of Chinese Language.
Mr Madan Saraff, principal of the School said courses offered are pre-tailored to specific requirements namely, Express Traveller&’s of 1.5 months to Intensive of 3 years plus. In-between, there are courses for business people, students. The shortest course assists travellers to be able to manage their minimum requirements in the non-English speaking area. The longest allows dedicated students to become interpreters. Business persons are benefited as their command over the language assists in creating a close bond with Chinese counterparts. Some also learn to create an impression on their CVs.
Besides, school-leaving children may get world-class medical education (MBBS) in China at very affordable cost at  the partner Universities Kunming Medical, Xian Jiatong, Tongji, Huazhong U of Science & Technology, China Medical, Jiangsu and others. The School is committed to do its bit to alleviate the shortage of medical doctors in our country, Mr Saraf added. 
The School created The Chini Adda, an informal platform to meet and practice the language and understand its culture on 23 January 2009.
The School is now in the process of finalising cooperation programmes between a leading Indian university and a leading institution with appropriate counter-parts in China. Our future plans include: to be appointed as India&’s first Confucius Classroom; arrange exchange programmes for schools; increase intake of qualified teachers from China to be able to teach the the language rightly.
