Thieves raided a flat in Labanya apartment at Swamiji Palli, Jyangra off Baguiati and decamped with jewellery and cash worth Rs 78,000 this morning.
The burglary occurred when Mr Gopal Mukherjee, the co-owner of the house and his wife, Anjali Mukherjee, were asleep. Their son Mr Indraneil and his wife were also present in the adjacent room when the goons broke in the house. According to the FIR, the residents of the apartment were locked from outside when the goons barged in. No one has been arrested so far and the investigation is on, according to the sources from the Baguiathi police station.
Mr Gopal Mukherjee, at around 5:00 a.m. in the morning, found his bedroom door locked from outside. He shouted for help from his window, as locals ran up to find the main door unbolted. The family then discovered that valuables worth Rs 1lakh had been looted.
The Inspector-in-charge, of Baguiathi police station, Mr Tarak Shankar Roy said,"The culprits would be nabbed soon, we are still investigating the case. There is confusion over the actual amount of valuables lost as per information received from the family members.”
