Cricket: Rakesh Chhetri, student of Air Force School in Bagdogra, was declared as man of the fifth match and Mudashir Mallick, student of Woodridge International School secured man of the sixth match on the third day of the 9th Surendra Agarwal Memorial Inter School Cricket Tournament. Rakesh scored 106 runs in 50 balls and Mudashir scored 85 runs in 56 balls. The Air Force School won the match defeating DAV at Fulbari in Jalpaiguri by 32 runs. Woodridge International School won the match defeating Hebron High School by 156 runs.
Bus strike: The strike by private bus operators demanding fare hike saw all private buses staying off the roads in Raiganj and Islampur sub-divisions in North Dinajpur district on Monday.
Deb visits NBMCH: The north Bengal development minister, Mr Gautam Deb, on Monday visited the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital to inquire into the health condition of a six-year-old girl who was allegedly raped on 3 January.

Theft complaint: A complaint of theft was lodged against Sahabuddin Khan alias Sameer for stealing gold jewellery worth Rs 1.15 lakh and Rs 1.24 lakh in cash on 5 January. The accused worked as a shop assistant.     sns
