Cricket: Y Dinesh, student of Kendriya Vidyalaya was on Sunday declared as man of the match on the second day of the 9th Surendra Agarwal Memorial Inter School Cricket Tournament. Dinesh scored 46 runs in 31 balls in the third match between Mahbert High School and Kendriya Vidalaya. In the fourth match, Subhendu Guho Roy of Techno India Group was declared man of the match for scoring 64 runs in 39 balls though the team was defeated by Royal Academy by 27 runs.
Place of worship: Himalaykanya Co-operative Housing Society Ltd (Abasan Phase-2) on Eastern Bypass, Salugara, has decided to construct a place of worship for prayer named Sarva Dharma Upasana Sthaal, a unique venture for multi-religious people. The committee for Himalay Kanya Abasan (phase 2) has sought participation of common people and financial assistance.
Strike: Around 7,500 buses, mini buses, taxis would remain off the roads in north Bengal on Monday as the private bus owners called a strike demanding the bus fare hike.
Revolver snatched: The service revolver of a police official of Kharibari police station was allegedly snatched on Saturday evening when police had gone to rescue the driver and the helper of a lorry, who had an accident. Sources said the lorry was loaded with bricks and police were chasing the vehicle when it had an accident. The local people had a scuffle with police at Dumuria and somebody snatched the revolver from a police official. An investigation is on to find the revolver.

Liquor seized: The Darjeeling excise department, in a raid, seized 600 litre of spirit, 140 litre of illicit liquor, sealed 45 litre of illicit liquor, and 1,000 bottles at Malivita in the Garidhura police out post on Saturday. Darjeeling superintendent of excise, Mr Sujit Kumar Das, led the raid. The excise department destroyed 800 litres of spirit. Deputy excise collector, Siliguri Range, said the raid was conducted in the house of Manoj Singh. However, he could not be arrested.
Man killed: A middle-aged man identified as Kuleshwar Barman was killed when Balurghat-Siliguri Intercity express hit the cyclist at an unmanned level crossing near Buniadpur on Sunday morning. The accident took place when he was crossing the railway track.
