Memorandum served: The Darjeeling district CPI-M has served a memorandum to the Municipal Returning Officer, Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) on Thursday demanding to deploy central forces in the SMC by-polls on 22 November. Rape case: Pradhan Nagar police started a rape case against a person Nikhil Dorjee for allegedly raping a woman after promising to marry her. "The person is a resident of a tea plantation and he had a relationship with her. But he did not disclose to her that he was married. The woman lodged an FIR on Thursday. We have started the rape case against the person,” said a police officer.
