The third anniversary of ‘Kanyasree’ project, which provides financial support to girl children for their education in West Bengal, was celebrated on Sunday with generation of Kanyasree certificates to three lakh girls.

The certificates were generated through the click of a button by Finance minister Amit Mitra and these can be availed by the girls through the Internet by logging into the dedicated website for the purpose.

At a colourful function held at the Netaji Indoor Stadium and attended by thousands of school girls from all over the state, several performances like dance drama, martial arts and folk art were presented.

A mobile app on Kanyasree project, which has so far benefitted 34 lakh girls in the state, was also launched by state minister for Child Development Shashi Panja to enable applicants, guardians, heads of institutions and officials to know status of application and to lodge complaints if any.
