Over 9,000 students from the East district of Class XI and XII of the government schools and government colleges have received laptops from the Chief Minister, Mr Pawan Chamling at a function organised by the state human resource development department at Guards Ground here today.
During the function, Mr Chamling announced that his government has planned to provide laptops to the students of Class IX and X standard next year.
He stated that time is precious and the students and youths should value time and make the best possible use of it in construction and productive works.
Sikkim is making an impressive progress in all fields and sectors and today it is considered one of the best and most developed state in the country, the Chief Minister said, adding that the students and the youths should shoulder the responsibility of ushering the state to greater development with dedication and determination.
“We in the government are fully dedicated and determined to give quality education to our students and we have been working tirelessly in our endeavours. Similarly, the students should develop a sense of competitiveness in them and free themselves from inferiority complex to stride forward confidently,” Mr Chamling said. “I envision making Sikkim a healthy state in every respect but my dream of making it so will remain a distant dream if our students and youths do not participate and contribute,” he added.
