The state fisheries department will organise a three - day fish festival at Nalban Food Park beginning from 18 December to address the issues relating to aquaculture, export in fishery and sea food sector.
The main attraction of the festival - Bengal Fish Fest- is that 15 restaurants of the city will serve various special fish preparations to the visitors. Senior state fisheries department officials will be present at the festival. The state fisheries department in collaboration with Indian Chamber of Commerce will organise the fair. With an aim to develop fisheries and aquaculture in the state, the festival will provide an opportunity to meet food and fishery industry leaders, entrepreneurs and service providers. Union ministry of commerce and industry, which is supporting the event, will also organise an international buyer-seller meet at the event.
International buyers from Oman, UAE, Japan, Vietnam and China will also be present at the event and meet Indian exporters of fish.
A two-day culinary competition and a quiz contest will be organised, which will see participants with their specially prepared recipes. The winners will be awarded with trips to fisheries tourism destinations. Cultural events will also be held at the festival every evening to attract more visitors.
